About me
Well Hi there! Gemma is a part-time freelance model who does vintage pin up modelling. The 1940's and early 50's are a passion in Gemma's life and she loves the glamour and fashions of the time. Gemma loves being in front of the camera and the way it makes her feel and creating wonderful pieces of art. She has a number of vintage items she can bring to her shoots, including clothes and accessories .

So what is pinup, ? It's a picture, of a female, that appeals to 'popular culture' and which is 'pinned up' somewhere, like a wall or locker door. The word 'pinup' became popular during World War II, when commercial pin up posters started being produced. Men however have been sticking up pictures of sexy women since the late 1800s. During World War 1, amongst the British Forces, it was particularly popular to collect and pinup publicity postcards of actresses, singers and models of the time.

Today, pin up falls into two categories, there is 'modern' pinup which covers todays 'glamour mags' or 'lads mags' and page 3 which usually is more overtly sexual than 'retro' pinup. 'Retro' pinup tends to recreates a vintage style, also known as 'cheescake' and tends to portray a more innocent, but fun and sexy style, usually showing a flash of stocking top or underwear, rather than being too blatant.
